Enhancing Airport Travel with Melbourne Airport’s New Mobility Assistance Service
Melbourne Airport has recently introduced a new mobility assistance service to enhance the travel experience for all passengers, particularly those with limited mobility. At The Melbourne Chauffeur by Rophael, we are pleased to assist our clients by arranging this service to further improve their airport journey, whether arriving or departing.
About the Mobility Assistance Service
In partnership with Travellers Aid, Melbourne Airport has launched a pilot program to support travellers who may find navigating the airport challenging. Four new mobility hubs provide convenient access to services, including wheelchair transfers and buggy transport. Passengers can utilise these resources to move between car parks, check-in areas, baggage claim, and passenger pick-up or drop-off zones with ease. This trial service is currently available Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Services Offered at the Mobility Hubs
Each hub is equipped to support travellers with various needs, offering:
Wheelchair and buggy transfers to key locations across terminals, including Virgin Australia, Qantas, and Jetstar.
Sensory packs and communication boards to assist non-verbal travellers.
Hidden Disability Sunflower Program lanyards for travellers with invisible disabilities, providing them with discreet assistance.
This service is free of charge, ensuring accessibility for anyone needing assistance.
